Library Garden Beds Ready for New Plants

(June 12, 2006) The south garden at the Steele Creek Branch Library has been reworked and is ready for new plants. The Steele Creek Library Association has planned, organized, and paid for much of the work. All you can see now are beds covered with hardwood mulch and walkways covered with cypress chips, but underneath those is a layer of garden soil and a drip sprinkler system.

Realiscape Landscaping Service prepared the beds at a reduced cost and Blue Max Materials donated two loads of garden soil. Childress Klein Properties, developer of RiverGate, also made a contribution.

Over the next few months the garden will be filled with new trees, shrubs, and perennials. For a special project, children will plan bulbs in the fall. The Library Association is also working on having artwork from the old library at Steele Creek Commons Shopping Center moved to the garden.
